Cambodian Comics (Ginger, the Kindergartner)

My old Ginger strip from my first comic book.
My friend P said I seem to make Ginger a bit unfortunate all the time. I guess it's just a part of building a character. A happy character might be boring (it's also true to writing). Most people tend to sympathize character who runs into a lot of hiccups. But I normally make sure that Ginger reflects the nature of children in their everyday life, or maybe even adults can relate to this as well.

Ginger the Walker (comic series #4)

My blog is reconstructed, so here is a new place for Ginger series. I have taken a very long time to make this new strip. It is inspired by one of my best friend's friends. When my bestie told me about her friend, I decided to make a comic strip for it. Actually, the real experience is a lot funnier than this. I laughed so hard. Sometime life has its own sense of humor.

Ginger on the Airplane (comic series # 3)

Well, it's not like I got the idea from my recent trip via a chopper, but I guess it kind of gives me a nudge. This one, like the previous Ginger strips, is inspired by my mom again. I know what you're thinking, you think my mom has a rich childhood experience, and you are right. When my mom was a kid, she traveled a lot on the military aircraft (during Non Nol time), because my grandpa was an airman (my dad was also a military pilot), so I decided to turn this memory into comic. By the way, I have a facebook page for all my Ginger series. If you're interested, come and visit it at Camtoonista. And thank you for secretly support my work, I know you do. I'm looking at you.

Ginger & the General (Comic Series #2)

I like this episode, it shows how innocent and thougthful a child can be. It's actually another childhood memory of my mom. Well, she's become the source of my inspiration now.

You can see the man uniform. My mother childhood started shortly after the Sangkom Reas Niyum time (though she spent most of it during Lon Nol time). She lived near a military base, so that's how my mom met this French general.

Ginger and the Supposed Tiger (comic series # 1)

I made some strips based on my mother's childhood, and I also mentioned about doing another comic-worthy story of her again. She really has a lot of funny moments when she was a child. This is when she and her best friend encountered a strayed dog and mistook it for a tiger, because the dog had a similar black strips on its yellow coat. And they ran into a thorn bush after that.  I laughed so hard when she told me about it. Well, I hope you enjoy it too.
